Artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer was commissioned to bring his articulated intersect light installation to Hobart for a local mid-winter feast/festival called DARK MOFO, the concept is to pay homage to the winter solstice and to get the people of Hobart out of their homes an into the cold night air to celebrate .....it works well and has been embraced by the populace and hopefully is now a permanent cultural event.
Anthony is a long time photographer who works out of Tasmania (the little island at the bottom of Australia and home to the endangered Tasmanian Devil), The best way to express his home state for the world stage is to call it the Scotland of the southern hemisphere, Tasmanians enjoy the freshest vegetables, fish, meat, whisky, etc, it is well known for it's striking natural beauty and untouched wilderness, rugged mountain ranges, pristine beaches and coastal fishing communities, it is a bushwalkers paradise, eco tourism is popping up everywhere, the inhabited lanscape is dotted with fine 1800's sandstone architecture which is itself a postcard of its' brooding savage colonial past.
